Victims to be remembered, donations encouraged at football game

A moment of silent mourning will be observed and donations will be accepted to aid the victims of Tuesday's terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, D.C., when Mississippi State plays Brigham Young University in football on Saturday.

The game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at Mississippi State's Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field. The Southeastern Conference announced on Wednesday following a unanimous decision by league presidents that all SEC football games would be played on Saturday, providing "a meaningful opportunity to bring our people together in a common expression of sympathy and mourning."

The SEC also announced plans to donate $1 million from gate receipts and television fees to assist victims of the Tuesday attacks.

Extra security measures also will be in place for Saturday's game.
