The Hope of 911

Victoria B. Roberts

A day of terror a day of fear
A day when chaos filled the air
A day of tragedy a day of tears
And yet hope shone forth through a victory won
The day began just as all others
Suddenly a plane appeared from nowhere
Taking down an icon of America
Not long after another plane soaring low
Tore into the other Twin
In no time at all both Twins fell
Leaving the city in an unnatural winter
Miles away in DC another plane
Torpedoed into the Pentagon
Ash and smoke filled the air
As major buildings were emptied
Across the land fear spread
As the nation watched in horror
Yet that fear turned to anger and determination
Once the news broke forth of another hijacked plane
Over rural PA a decision was made
By the passengers of Flight 93
They stormed the terrorists and scored a victory
The first of the War on Terrorism
Through this the world could see that in the tragedy of 911
Hope still remains a beacon to all
A victory won
Hope spreads across the land
